CREATOR: Bruno Munari
CATEGORY: Book / Design
NOTES: An exercise in seeing the world through the eyes of others. This artist’s book, first published in 1969 as a gift, contains 25 loose colored cards centered around the theme of faces. The pages can be mixed up as to vary their order and clustered into small groups to change the color of the eyes, turning Bruno Munari’s book the into a game of perspective. –Exile Books
CREATOR: The Ladds, Meagan Bennett (designer), Michael Carridor (photographer)
CATEGORY: Illustration / Photography
NOTES: Something about the set designs, the staged photography and the artistic precision of the cheap-looking toy animals gives me so much joy. This is one of those proejcts where they went for something specific and nailed it.
CREATOR: R. Buckminster Fuller
CATEGORY: Data
NOTES: I've had this book for a few years now and it's truly a delight to hold in your hand. The weight, the layer of varnish pattern on the cover, the way it opens flat – wish all books were bound this way – and that's just the book's tangibility. The content is so thoughtfully designed with well-executed typography and of course the well-known subject matter of Fuller.
CREATOR: Csilla Klenyanszki
CATEGORY: Photography
NOTES: I smile constantly while looking through this book of well-engineered, home totems – just imagining how much fun Csilla (and her presumed team) had creating these pieces. This projct was created within the guiderails of early motherhood and all were constructed within 30 minutes – the duration of her son's nap.
